Wow! That place looks really cool, I would love to paddle there. Which river is that again? How many racers participated?  What kind of support do you guys need that I could get organized over here, e.g. funds, equipment etc.?  Can't wait to get out to Lebanon, looks amazing.

Hello Fuzzy

It’s the Assi River, it is unlike other rivers here in Lebanon, it offers enough water depth all year round; it’s the only river in Lebanon that runs from the south to the north. and assi means in Arabic: “the Rebel River”, because of this unusual direction, since all the other streams have a southern course, and partly because it is a wild and rapid watercourse, which tears away all the bridges, which people attempt to throw over it; and it runs due north, parallel with the coast, falling 2000 feet (600 m) through a rocky gorge.

And about the support, we need it sure, and the guys will soon reply.

Hey,

That is one sweet course you have there!! You can't get much better exposure for the sport than running a course through the middle of what looks like a restaurant!! I think I could get used the idea of coaching from a chair on the patio with my hummus and a cold Lebanese beverage!! Maybe Chris can set something up like that in Denver...Chris, you reading this?.....I think Denver needs this to run through a bar so those long, hot, summer Colorado days can feel a little more like the Caribbean!!!

Also, thanks for the link, Jo seems like a pretty driven guy. Its nice to have those types of people around.

Well, today in Calgary we started off the day at -18 degrees Celsius with plenty of snow and then one of our famous Chinook winds blew in in the afternoon and it is now +12 degrees and the snow has mostly melted away. As they say in Alberta, "If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes."

Hope everyone is doing well.

Later

Brendan

Hey all,

Cosy, I go to a wealthy private school in Denver where one of the major principles is community service, so I'd love to help you guys out and so would a lot of my school.  Hopefully I'll be coming out soon with chris, but for the mean time, being an underfunded athelete myself, I know how important it is to raise capital.  I could put together a presentation for my school and have a fundraiser that would help with buying gear for your clubs. Would you guys be interested in that? Let me know. I'd love to help.

Hi everyone, with your support we can make canoeing an important sport in Lebanon. We have everything: the legal status (the federation) the perfect environment (rivers, lakes, sea, good weather all year long), motivated athletes, valuable and supporting Friends like you.

I come by this letter to invite everyone to contribute in our effort to promote and develop this exclusive sport in the middle east which you can find only in Lebanon. It is not only an interesting and wonderful sport but also an environmental friendly sport and can be a main promoter for tourism in Lebanon.

I ask each one of you to help us first make know everybody that we have this sport in Lebanon. Second encourage Lebanese to try this sport and third I send a big invitation for Lebanese expatriate who practice this sport outside Lebanon to contact us and give us there address and details in order to benefit from there experience for the good of this sport in Lebanon.

We are determined to be present in most of the regional and international events to make the Lebanese flag present in all canoeing events worldwide.

For more info you can visit our official website: http://www.lckf.org

Regards for all

Mazen Ramadan

Hey all,
This is the skiing season in Lebanon... it is similar in length to that of the Alps stretching over a period of 4 months. Skiers, snowboarders, snowmobile addicts, cross-country lovers and para gliders come to the resort from all parts of the country. There are some photos from Faraya - Laqlouq - The Cedars ...

Merry Christmas to you all

Last year i've been in Austria, and as i ski every year in a different country, this year i already had plans, but next year i'll definitely be in Lebanon skiing.
